When Margot's partner, Tyler, invites her to a remote island to eat an extraordinary conceptual art meal prepared at the exclusive Hawthorne restaurant by celebrity Chef Slowik, she accepts his invitation. She's shocked to learn later from Tyler that the cost of admission was $1250 a head. Even more shocking is the chef's reaction to her appearance at the event... Tyler tells Margot that Chef Slowik is a storyteller whose menu is always a game with an overarching theme and story that guests only understand at the end of the menu. Slowik pulls Margot aside and demands to know if he should consider her the same as his staff or the guests. Of course, Margot is confused even when Slowik explains that he painstakingly planned out every detail. When Margot finally discovers what Slowik meant, it's too late. The only thing she can hope to do is survive until the serving of the very last plate.
