Based off the mystery novels of Craig Johnson, Longmire tells the story of Walt Longmire. As the sheriff of Absaroka Wyoming, Longmire has to keep law and order in a west that's still largely wild. Drawing elements from noir, western, and mystery fiction, Longmire blends together elements of the police procedural as well as the traditional western. Life as a sheriff means navigating a cutthroat political landscape and dealing with the ethical and political complications of the nearby Cheyenne reservation. Longmire also has to deal with domestic drama in his relationship with his headstrong and grown daughter.
