Aftersun is structured around a summer vacation in an all-inclusive resort in Turkey, where a single father named Calum, who is in his early thirties, has taken his daughter Sophie, who is 11 years old. Sophie doesn't become aware of Calum's struggles with anxiety and depression until she is an adult and is thinking back on their vacation together as a child. Despite his best efforts, Calum doesn't appear to be able to give Sophie the ideal vacation.
