Filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, Black Sails chronicles the adventures of pirates in the 1700s. The show takes place years before the events described in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, and it features both fictional pirates from that work as well as historical pirates who sailed the seas at that time, including Charles Vane and Anne Bonny. The action of the show revolves around Captain Jack Flint's hunt for the treasure galleon, the Urca de Lima, and the action is often described as dark and menacing. A STARZ original production, Black Sails is a grim but fast-paced adventure drama, one that brings the viewer into the lives of individuals who obey no law but their own. One season has already been released, and a second season is slated for release in 2015.
