The self-involved individuals who call themselves "The Gang" run a bar in Philadelphia: Dennis and his sister Sweet Dee, their friends Charlie and Mac, and their father Frank. Despite the relationships between the five, they consistently scheme and try to undermine another. They also come up with a number of plans between them to get ahead that rarely succeed although they are willing to stop at almost nothing save for dedication and hard work to get what they want. Despite repeated failures and the fact that none of them are where they want to be in life, they maintain high opinions of themselves. Charlie also is obsessed with a waitress at a nearby coffee shop who wants nothing to do with him.
