Two and a Half Men is a show that takes after the "Odd Couple" in many respects. Charlie Harper is a jingle writer who's living a hedonistic playboy lifestyle. Charlie's brother, Alan, is more responsible and ensures the bills get paid every month. Alan has a son, Jake, who together move into Charlie's Malibu apartment following Alan's divorce. A lot of the laughs and action behind Two and a Half Men revolve around Charlie's relationship difficulties and the coming-of-age troubles of Alan's son, Jake. The show also works on the contrast between Alan's difficulty with women and Charlie's offhand confidence in the same department.
