Based on the real life of forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, and her double life as a mystery writer, the series covers Temperance Brennan and her crew as they work with the FBI to use their forensic skills to solve impossible murders. The series takes place in Washington D.C.'s Jeffersonian Museum, modeled after the Smithsonian. Temperance's partner with the FBI is Seely Booth, an ex Army Ranger and gambler who brings special skills to the team, as well as intuition that works in conjunction with Brennan's science and cold hard facts. The romantic tension builds between these two opposites throughout the series, as they use their different skill sets to track down murderers and criminals. Back at the lab, they are assisted by many skilled colleagues- Brennan's best friend Angela, who is also the team's visual reconstructive artist and computer guru, Dr Hodgins, a three Ph.D. tech who deciphers plants, bugs, and chemical residues, Dr. Sweets, a young but perceptive psychaitrist, and an ever-rotating group of interns that range from skilled and scary to wacky but talented.
