After her mother remarries, 15-year-old Courtney Whitmore moves to Blue Valley, Nebraska. There, she discovers her stepfather's secret: he was a member of the Justice Society of America, a team of superheroes who disbanded decades ago. With the help of her stepfather's old costume and Cosmic Staff, Courtney becomes Stargirl and assembles a new team of young heroes to stop the Injustice Society, a group of villains who are trying to take over Blue Valley.
