Bobby, a low-paid bartender at a failing restaurant, is having a midlife crisis. He's been trying to cope with divorce and bullying from the restaurant's rich owner. His only outlet has been work on a comic book about his life. When Bobby's mother dies and he learns that she set some money aside for him, his long-time friend and co-worker, Carlos, who manages the restaurant's kitchen and has also been looking for meaning in life, gives him an idea to start over. The two men decide to leave behind their unhappiness and restore an old bowling alley where Bobby long ago had a perfect game. They're going to give their small town a new entertainment venue and pizza shop. As they pursue their dreams, Bobby and Carlos come to realize that they have to also learn to accept what life offers them.
