The Scenic Route is about two men who are lifelong friends. The childhood friends are in their 30s and decide to go on a road trip in order to reunite and connect as adults. The one friend decides to fake a car mishap in order to help the other let his hair down. When the catching up session gets tense, the friend starts the truck up. Their truck breaks down for real now on a desert road that is isolated from the rest of the world. The tensions begin to rise as the two men sit around in the heat, waiting to be rescued. As the tensions rise further, they begin to attack each other based upon decisions they have made in life. As the decisions are attacked and words are exchanged, it is matched with brutality that is unwavering. The two men continue to fight and bicker and scare away any possibilities of getting a ride into town. The men find themselves helpless, desperate, and wandering towards a rescue that is bound to happen, but not soon enough that the two men continue to fight about anything and everything.
