This supernatural thriller is predicated on the premise that all actions come with consequences and that the consequences for tampering with the world of the dead often brings dire results. When distant and reserved college student Alex decides to commune with his dead mother through a form of astral projection, he opens up doors in reality that he wishes he hadn't. While his journey into the astral plane is seemingly successful, it becomes increasingly apparent that the door he opened has also let a nefarious group of "shadow people" to spill through, and Alex and his friends have to find out how to shut the portal for good.
