The Moochmore family is falling apart. Between her unsupportive and unfaithful politician husband and her five melodramatic daughters, Shirley experiences a complete mental breakdown when she retreats into a fantasy world created after the famous musical The Sound of Music. As her delusions become too much for the family to bear, her husband Barry commits her to a mental institution. In her absence, Barry then hires eccentric hitchhiker Shaz as the girls? nanny. Although she has a rough exterior, Shaz proves to be inspiring and a great role model for the girls. She gives them each the huge boost of self confidence they need, helping to pull the Moochmore family back together again. Unfortunately a local shark hunter named Trevor throws a wrench into the mix when he reveals that Shaz is actually his disturbed ex-wife who believes the spirit of their deceased daughter lives inside a shark in his exhibit. He claims that she follows him to each town he moves to, attempting to work her way into the trust of the locals. Shaz ends up being confined to the same mental institution as Shirley was, but this is not the last the Moochmore family will see of her.
