Sara Brown, a right-wing journalist who has gained some fame, is taken hostage along with her cameraman by four extremists from a Los Angeles terrorist sleeper cell during the worst Southern California wildfires. The terrorists threaten to behead both prisoners on the 4th of July. Sara learns from them that they want the world to see true terror. Yet, she disagrees that their actions can truly inspire fear. When her captors start to have frightening visions and something supernatural, an ancient evil, threatens their lives, they begin to realize why Sara has so little concern or fear about her fate.
