In Chicago's District 21, the Chicago P.D. has a standard police patrol that deals with local crimes and an elite "Intelligence Unit" that deals with the more complex and high profile cases. The members of the Intelligence Unit, headed by Sgt. Hank Voight, do everything they can and more to make the city safer: Voight and his team often work outside of the letter of the law as sometimes it's their only option to stop mobsters, murderers, drug traffickers and other criminals. Their choices come at a cost though as they struggle with stress and maintaining a work/life balance.
