In the aftermath of her parents' tragic deaths, a young woman living in Baltimore during 1893 checks herself into the Rosewood Institute. Isabelle Porter, newly arrived at the institute, finds herself to be the subject of increasingly strange and aggressively violent psychiatric experimentation in mental manipulation and personality modification, carried out by the unorthodox and seemingly sadistic Dr. Cairn. Isabelle must find a way to escape the dangers of Rosewood and Dr. Cairn and finally achieve what she has wanted all along - freedom.
