The Vampire Diaries follows the lives of Elena Gilbert and her friends as they are thrust into the new realization that supernatural beings exist. Vampires, witches and werewolves reside in Mystic Falls, Virginia where Elena has spent her whole life. Two vampires, brothers Damon and Stephan Salvatore, arrive in Mystic Falls and realize that Elena is the spitting image of Katherine, the beautiful vampire that sired them both over 100 years before. Damon and Stephan both pine for Elena, Katherine's doppelganger, as Elena begins to fall in love. Who will she choose?
