Emma Bovary is known as Madame Bovary, and she is the wife of Charles Bovary, a small-town doctor. At first glance, Emma seems to be a loving and faithful wife, but as she sets her sights to have a higher social status, she finds herself engaging in things she never thought that she would. In an attempt to gain a better social status within the town, she becomes engaged in multiple extramarital love affairs that give her the promise of such things.
