An adaptation of the original Sherlock Holmes mysteries by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this series reinvents Sherlock in modern-day New York City. Holmes is transplanted to New York to get sober after disappearing into a haze of heroin when his girlfriend is killed by the dastardly Moriarty. Needing a break from London and his home at 221B Baker Street, he takes up shop in a brownstone owned by his father, and tries to begin a new life as a criminal consultant for the NYPD, and to stay clean with the help of his sober companion, Ms Jane Watson. Watson, an ex-surgeon who quit the medical field after a mistake, has her own ghosts, and is chasing them by healing one addict at a time. Her time with Holmes help her to realize other ways to help the world, and herself, as she works with Sherlock to solve impossible crimes with the power of acute observation. While discovering a love for crime, she must also find a way to bring Sherlock into the world more, and away from his arrogant self-loathing habits.
