Norman Bates is a normal teenage boy with an awkward touch. He simply wants to have friends, and possibly a girlfriend, but family and chaos seems to follow this unusual young man. Set along Oregon's volatile coastline, Bates Motel follows Norman's mother, Norma, as she purchases an old motel just outside of a new town. She wants a fresh start after her husband passes away. With Norman in tow, mother and son settle into this mysterious town called White Pine Bay. Making friends with two girls, Emma and Bradley, Norman soon finds that the town has secrets of its own. A mysterious car fire and a crazed previous owner welcome the Bates' family as tensions rise. Entering the picture is Norman's half-brother, Dylan. Estranged from Norma, Dylan has his own dark secrets, but feels sorry for Norman's predicament at the isolated motel. As horrors soon erupt out of the Bates Motel, and Norman's mind, friends and calculated enemies line up to make Norma's business a veritable money pit. She enlists the help of local law enforcement to keep her motel in business and out of harm's way, but even the law has a different face in this town.
