In 1973 in San Fernando Valley, California, a 15-year-old boy named Gary Valentine meets a 25-year-old photography assistant named Alana Kane while going through the motions of having his photograph taken during his high school's picture day. Gary immediately falls for Alana. She is his first love. After Gary starts a conversation with Alana, they soon hit it off. At first, she tries to prevent his advances toward her, especially given their age difference, but Gary is persistent. She agrees to meet him for dinner. The two strike up a friendship that seems impossible. Can a teen's first crush lead him to a lifetime of happiness?
