When a young woman named Sam sees a Help Wanted sign at the Raven's End Mortuary, she immediately inquires within about the job. Although the elderly mortician, Montgomery Dark, comes off as a bit creepy and strange, he accepts Sam without hesitation because he believes she has found the right place for her. As Sam works beside him, Dark recounts stories of some of the most horrifying and fantastic deaths that have taken place in the area over the many years that he has run the mortuary. Sam seems intrigued until Dark reaches the end of his third tale. She realizes that all of his stories are about people who died after receiving some sort of punishment. What happens when Sam confronts Dark shows that both the mortician and his apprentice are keeping deadly secrets from one another.
