Nightmare Alley is a neo-noir psychological thriller that delves into the darker side of America's sideshow/carnival industry. During the 1940s in New York, Stanton Carlisle is struggling to make ends meet when he comes across a clairvoyant/mentalist couple while visiting a carnival. Using the tips that he learns from the pair, Carlisle becomes skilled at using his words to gain whatever his heart desires. Looking to score big, he enlists the aid of a psychiatrist in order to scam a powerful tycoon. However, it soon becomes apparent that Carlisle's partner is dangerous in her own right.
