During the golden age of Hollywood, a screenwriter simmers with rage. His misanthropic tendencies make him the perfect person to write the classic film Citizen Kane. As he goes through the motions of penning this iconic piece, however, Herman J. Mankiewicz's tendencies threaten to undo him. As an alcoholic, he needs to put a lid on his worst inclinations. Striving to create something truly special, Mankiewicz realizes that he's racing against the clock.
