"Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" is a long-running television show about a squad of NYPD detectives and New York City district attorneys. The show follows Detective Olivia Benson and her fellow detectives as they investigate crimes in New York City. The squad is named Special Victims Unit because they specialize in investigating cases surrounding sexual and child-related crimes. Over the course of the show, Detective Benson and her coworkers put their lives on the line over and over again, and sometimes are even victimized themselves. The show LAO highlights important issues such as police brutality, sex trafficking, and kidnapping.
