In 1984, the All Valley Karate Tournament took place at the Cobra Kai dojo. Thirty years later, Johnny Lawrence finds himself unemployed and trying to salvage what is left of his life. Johnny befriends a young, bullied teenager, Miguel, which inspires him to reopen the once famous dojo. Once the dojo is opened, the rivalry between Daniel LaRousso and Johnny Lawrence heats up again. LaRousso has felt lost after the death of Mr. Miyagi, his mentor. When LaRousso notices Cobra Kai is using its old thuggish ways, he promises to prevent it.
