Set in New York City in the 1950s, a young man and woman from two rival gangs fall in love. Their romance is doomed from the start as the Jets and the Sharks are sworn enemies. Tony and Maria try to hide their love affair but violence between the two gangs occur when they are discovered. Themes of racial tension, injustice and love are explored through a musical score and choreography.
