This period sitcom is set in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania during "1980-something," and is loosely based on creator Adam Goldberg's childhood, with both creative and historical liberties. The series stars Beverly, the typical pushy Jewish mother; her more realistic but also largely apathetic husband Murray; and Adam, the youngest child of the family, who records its antics with his video camera. Rounding out the cast is the eldest child, popular and rebellious Erica; middle child Barry, who is sporty but often overconfident; and "Pops," Beverly's goofy father, whom young Adam considers his best friend. A voice-over of adult Adam narrates the proceedings.
