This series, now beginning its sixth season, is a combination of action and drama. The main characters are firefighters who are shown struggling in both their professional and personal lives. Characters include Matthew Casey, whose aloof demeanor hides his fierce protectiveness of his crew; his charismatic best friend Kelly Severide, who is something of a ladies' man; and Gabby Dawson, a paramedic and one of the few female firefighters, as well as Casey's eventually love interest and wife.
