After New York ER doctor Hank Lawson loses his job when falsely accused of causing a patient's death, his brother, a certified public accountant to the rich and famous, convinces him to bring his skills to the Hamptons. There he treats the "royal pains" as a concierge doctor that works on retainer. Yet, even with all of the glitter and gold that comes from working in that world, Hank finds himself missing something in his life. A local hospital administrator's request that Hank help those who can't pay for his services leads him on a whirlwind journey in the Hamptons.
