Detective Sarah Linden is a complicated woman. Her life as a policewoman and a history of mental health problems have put a strain on her every relationship. As a result, she decided to leave the police force to focus more on raising her son, Jack, with her fiance. On the last day, she and her replacement, Detective Stephen Holder, go out on what was supposed to be Sarah's last call. When they discover the blood of a missing girl, Rosie Larson, in the back of a local councilman's campaign vehicle, Sarah agrees to stay and help Holder solve the case.
