Hell on Wheels is a Western television series that features the Unites States' initial cross-country railroad as its historical backdrop. A cast of outlaws, lawyers, prostitutes, and surveyors are tracked in the show as the action moves west across America's famed heartland. The first season follows Cullen Bohannon, a former Confederate soldier, as he chases the line westward in hopes of finding work and avenging the death of his family members. Cullen lost a wife in the Civil War and has revenge on his mind. The show also follows Thomas Durant who has a single-minded quest to move the Union Pacific Railroad ever westward.
