After his family's yacht was destroyed, killing his father, his girlfriend's sister, and nearly himself, Oliver Queen found his way to an island in Japan. Here, he learns to fight the evil forces on the island and to survive. Five years later, he is finally rescued and returned to his billionaire playboy life in Starling City. When he returns, he vows to avenge all the evildoers in his city under the guise of his secret identity, the Arrow. Using a list given to him by his dying father, he vows to ruin the lives, one by one, of those who cheated others to prosper for themselves. To do so, he must enlist the help of his ex-special forces bodyguard, an angry ex-girlfriend and attorney, and avoid being unmasked by her detective father. The criminals are many, and it seems that even his own family members have secrets to hide. Oliver's younger sister, abandoned by her father and brother has turned to a wild life that puts her in constant peril, his father's business partner has profited by becoming his stepfather, and his mother seems to know much more than she lets on.
