Kenny Powers? baseball career goes down in flames when he can no longer throw his killer fastballs. His attitude does not help either. After taking some time to recuperate from some ego crushing blows, he returns to his roots in North Carolina. It is there that he begins teaching as a substitute for physical education. He still has a lot of lessons to learn, and those lessons often comes from the school staff and students. Little by little he learns the true meaning of humility, and his overblown ego begins to turn into something different. The question is, will people begin to see him in a different light?
