Lost Girl tells the story of a world inhabited by both humans and the fae, the magical folk of the world. The show follows the character of Bo, who believes herself to be human until she inadvertently kills her human boyfriend by draining his life energy. Bo runs away from home soon after this, and meets a young human girl Kenzi who she saves form being raped. The two quickly become fast friends and establish a detective agency of sorts. Soon Bo is met by the fae leaders of the area, who insist that it is necessary for her to choose a side. Bo instead chooses to remain outside the normal light and dark dichotomy of the fae, forcing her to navigate the perilous world between the human and the fae, but not really being a part of either.
