In the 19th century in Macedonia, an ancient spirit preys upon villagers in an isolated mountainous region. The villagers take many precautions against attacks from a being they call a wolf. One day, the spirit steals a baby and takes it deep into the mountains. It turns the child into a witch that it raises as its own offspring. As time passes, the witch girl realizes after she accidentally kills a peasant that she can live in the skin of any human that she kills. Curious about what it means to be a human, she uses this power to explore the world.
