Private Practice is a medical drama and a spin-off series from Grey's Anatomy. The main character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, is a world-renowned, neonatal surgeon and partner at Oceanside Wellness Group in Santa Monica, California. Because the center specializes in state-of-the-art technologies such as infertility, in-vitro fertilization, mental health disorders, pediatrics and homeopathic treatments, the story lines often address controversial and ethical medical issues. To add further conflict to the practice, the group of doctors involved with Oceanside Wellness all share professional and personal relationships. While each doctor is very accomplished in their field, they all suffer from the same insecurities and anxieties as everyone else. This gives each character a human element that keeps viewers connected to each episode.
