After many adventures, a blue Tang fish with a short memory and a kind heart, Dory, finds and reunites with the family that she had managed to forget about as well. The reunion of the family does not go smoothly and all involved learn a lesson or two about the true meaning of being a family and what that sometimes entails. They also learn that some estrangements do not have to stay that way.
