The story describes a twelve-year-old girl of unsound mind in a small town in Nebraska who worships a demon known as ?He Who Walks Behind the Rows? living in the local cornfields. This demon corrupts the minds of the children of the remote town. A couple ends up abandoned in this town, endangering their lives since the dangerous children living there are murderous and believe that any adult above 18 must die. These demonically-possessed children kill the couple and other adults who oppose anything they do. Eden is the only survivor since she meandered into the corn fields at the beginning of the event.
