A group of women from an isolated religious community struggles to reconcile their reality and faith. A Mennonite colony in Bolivia is rocked by the discovery that the community's men regularly drug and rape the community's women. The women of this community do not receive access to education and depend on men for survival. Their story of escape and survival is based on the true story as told in the novel of the same name by Miriam Toews.
