A skilled psychiatrist, Dr. Ford Strauss, believes strongly that the drug LSD might save lives. He believes in it so much that he has pushed extensively for approval to use it in experiments on patients. In 1961, after struggling to convince anyone publicly of the value of his work, Strauss is approached by a CIA operative, Agent Morgan, and recruited to join the government's top secret MKULTRA program in Mississippi. Strauss sees this as an incredible opportunity. Yet, as time passes, he starts to realize that something more sinister, a mission to achieve human mind control, is taking place at the psychiatric hospital where he tests his theories.
