In this drama, we learn about Claire Randall, a former nurse in World War II. While she and her husband visit Scotland in 1943, she finds herself transported to 1743. There, she falls into the hands of rebel Highlanders from the MacKenzie clan, who the British redcoats are chasing. She meets, falls in love with, and marries Jamie Fraser. Follow Claire as she experiences the plight of the Scots, which includes the Jacobites Rising, Battle of Prestonpans, and the battle of Culloden. In order to save her nephew, Claire's journey takes her to a colonized America in North Carolina, where they fight to survive in the local turmoil there.
