A Finnish student, Laura, is living in Moscow while studying the Russian language. With an interest in archaeology, she decides to leave behind her life in the city, which includes an affair with another woman, Irina, to travel to Murmansk. In the arctic port, she hopes to study the Kanozero Petroglyphs. Yet, sometimes people find that life has more important lessons for them to learn... While on the train, Laura must share a cramped sleeper compartment with a gruff, Russian miner named Ljoha. As they start to become friends, the experience forces both passengers to explore their needs and desires and change their perspectives.
