Attica is a documentary about life inside an American prison. The story is told through interviews with prisoners, residents, and corrections officers. Its director, Aljernon Tunsil, has gathered a wealth of rarely seen footage shot in and around the Attica prison. Nelson argues that the men who resided in the penal institution deserved to be treated humanely. But as he makes his case, we are also presented with the complexity of pursuing justice. The movie explores the reality of prison life in the United States. This story details what happened to inmates in a notorious prison. In the film, prisoners took hostage dozens of guards and began their revolt against human rights violations. The story of the Attica prison revolt is told through the voices of its former prisoners. Arthur Harrison, Carlos Roche, Lawrence Akil Killebrew, Tyrone Larkins, and George Che Nieves provide narration in the film. Other voices are also heard, including lawyers Joe Heath and Dee Quinn Miller.
