After catching car thief William O?Neal impersonating a federal agent, FBI special handler Roy Mitchell recruits him to infiltrate the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party. As O?Neal starts to gain acceptance and develop connections with the party?s members, the FBI radicalizes their campaign against the enigmatic leader Fred Hampton. The further O?Neal delves into the party?s activities, the more he struggles to carry out their agenda. His contentious assignment will ultimately lead to Hampton?s tragic assassination.
