A modern-day tale of dustbowl recession loss, Fern finds herself losing everything she has in rural Nevada. She decides the only appropriate response is to pack up everything she has and head out on the road to become a 20th-century nomad. She lives life on the outskirts of society and begins to see life in a way that she never could have before all of this happened. She learns that life isn't what you are given, it's what you make of it.
