Shaun Murphy, an aspiring surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, leaves his small mid-western hometown to join an elite surgical residency in California. Despite his extraordinary insight and skills, Shaun struggles to adapt to traditional hospital protocols and personally connect with his patients. With the help of his mentor Dr. Aaron Glassman, Shaun learns to expand his horizons in his professional and personal life.
