Thirty-four-year-old waitress Bridget is lost. She thinks she's hit the jackpot when she finally meets a "nice guy" and lands a stable gig nannying six-year old Frances. But an unexpected pregnancy and subsequent abortion introduces a whole new world of complications for Bridget. Though they initially clash, Bridget begins to learn new lessons and form a bond with the precocious Frances, who challenges Bridget on her notions of family, motherhood and having it all figured out.
