Floyd Mooney is a young up-and-coming Black stand-up comedian who has gained a big online following, and this sudden social media fame leads him to decide to move to Los Angeles to continue to pursue his dream of also becoming a movie star, much like other comedians he has looked up to over the years have done. As he works to achieve mainstream success, he also intends to stay true to his roots. While he is out chasing fame as a comedic actor, his live-in girlfriend, who has been supportive of his dream from the beginning, is stuck back at home struggling to keep the bills paid and take care of the couple's child.
