Wesley, a deaf boy who lives in a small town in North Dakota, struggles every day with bullies at school and a hostile father at home. When he finds an injured man in the snow and helps him to safety, the man becomes his friend, teaching him how to be stronger and how to deal with both the bullies and his father. Unfortunately, Wesley's new friend is a criminal who's on the run from the law, and when a police officer arrives looking for him, Wesley has a difficult decision to make.
