The Animal Kingdom is a family drama television series that focuses on a Southern California family that is heavily involved in many criminal activities. The main focus of the show is Joshua "J" Cody, a 17-year-old boy that moves in with his relatives due to the death of his mother from a heroin overdose. Josh soon discovers that numerous criminal enterprises fund the lavish family lifestyle. Each episode is jam-packed with colorful characters, such as head matriarch Janine "Smurf" Cody and her sons Pope, Craig, and Deran that are all heavily involved in a variety of activities in the criminal underworld.
